Cheshire Town Council Votes to Support Camp Nerden – April 2006

The Cheshire Town Council voted to add $10,000.00 into the Park and Recreation Budget to support The John J Nerden RTC Camp in Middlefield, CT.

The Special Needs Camp has been in operation for over 40 years. The camp is funded by requests for funding through the communities Park and Recreation Departments, donations from local civic organizations and individual donations.

Cheshire’s camper enrollment has increased steadily throughout the years and is now second to only Meriden in the number of campers that attend each summer.

The Camp offers a 7 week day program open to special needs children and adults, free to families.

It also offers winter activities such as Movie Nights, Bowling, Dances and parties beginning with the Halloween Party in October.
